Print for Visitor web

For the new visitor web to print, it needs a printing service set up as a service application to be installed on a server.

Each Visitor location needs their own printagent and a digital printer in Pronestor.

Table of contents

  • Windows PC or Windows Server
    • with access to the Pronestor Web installation via http/https
    • with access to the Printer, and the Printer installed
  • Privileges to install Visitor Agent as a Service
  • User account in Pronestor Planner that can work as a service account. It only needs local booker rights.
  • Only one Print agent for each Visitor location - which means only one printer for each Visitor location

Setting up multiple print agents on the same machine

It is possible to have more than one print agent on a machine.

Never copy an existing print agent and never rename the folder containing an existing print agent.

To have more than one print agent on a machine, simply unzip the proNestor multiple times (as described in the next chapter). They need different names. If you name them before you configure them, you can name them anything. For example you can have a folder called "Print agent London" and a folder called "Print agent Copenhagen" to keep track of which agent you use where. You can also just call them Visitoragent1" and "visitoragent2".

The VisitorAgents recieves the print requests from a digital Pronestor printer and sends them to the actual printer. The print agent follows a digital printer that you create in Pronestor and takes all print requests send to the digital printer.

  • Download the Visitor Agent to the PC/Server
    • Can be downloaded from within administration->Visitor
  • Unzip to ex. c:\program files\Pronestor
  • Inside the folder C:\Program Files\VisitorAgent find the zip file proNestor
  • Unzip the “proNestor” file to  %programdata%/Pronestor Visitor
Only one Print agent for each printer.  If two Print agents point towards the same printer, the print queue will be lost.

  • Create the Digital Printor.
    • Go to your Pronestor site
    • Go to Administration-> Visitor->Printer
    • Click "Create"
    • mceclip0.png
    • Name the location something fitting. It will be what you see in the Print agent and what the Receptionists see in the Visitor view.
    • Choose the Pronestor location it should be available to (for Visitor Reception).
    • mceclip1.png
    • Click "Save"
  • On the server, configure the Print agent.
    • Go to where you unzipped the files, for example c:\program files\Pronestor\VisitorAgent
    • Run the file c:\program files\Pronestor\VisitorAgent\PronestorVisitorAgentConfiguration.exe
    • Make sure that:
      • The Pronestor Url matches your site, for example
      • User name - this should be the username of your service account in Pronestor
      • Password - this should be the password of your service account in Pronestor
      • mceclip2.png
    • Click Test connection
      • If it fails, then check your service account and the Pronestor link
    • If the connection works, you can now edit the next buttons.
    • Skip "Choose location" - it is a legacy field that should not be used.
    • Pick your digital Pronestor printer in "Choose Planner Printer"
    • Pick your actual printer in "Choose Printer"
    • Click "Install Visitor Agent"
    • mceclip3.png
    • The service is now installed and running.
