This guide will describe the methods for installing and distributing the Pronestor Outlook Add-in installation package. The entire set of prerequisites that are necessary on the desktop PC to run the Pronestor Outlook Add-in will also be described in details.

The installation can be done either by launching the installation manually on each PC, or preparing a distribution task that ensures installation of all prerequisites and then installs the MSI version of the Pronestor Outlook Add-in.

Installation types

Updating Pronestor Outlook add-in

After installing the Pronestor Outlook add-in, you have two options when future upgrades become available.

You can use the automatic upgrade build in the Pronestor application. When an upgrade of the website has been made, the add-in will at next start up of Outlook install the new add-in and the user will be prompted to restart Outlook. This is the default setup and can be disabled by removing the POA files in the \Content\OutlookAddIns folder on the website (POA files are called .poa)

The second option is that you upgrade the website, get the newest Outlook add-in MSI package from the website and then use the distributions channels of your company.

Using the second option we recommend you install the add-in outside office hours, since your Pronestor solution will not work in the period of uninstalling/installing the add-in.

Updating Microsoft Office

Remember always to uninstall the Outlook add-ins before upgrading your Microsoft Office Version.

Known Issues

Citrix

Problem: Outlook 2007/2010 keeps prompting the user for permission to install the Pronestor Outlook Add-in.

Solution:  It is necessary to grant the Pronestor Outlook Add-in install permission to install itself in Outlook. This is done by editing the registry. The proNestor Booking Outlok add-in should appear under HKCU/software/Microsoft/VSTO/Security/Insclusion to grant the Add-in permission to install without prompting the end user.

In order to obtain the correct key for the registry install the Outlook Add-in on a Citrix client. Allow the add-in to install when prompted.

Now look in the registry under HKCU/software/Microsoft/VSTO/Security/Insclusion and find the key related to the proNestor Add-in. The Add-ins are registered under their GUID (Pronestor add-in has GUID “b11d1993-c770-4b….”) find the addin where the Url value indicates that this is the Pronestor Outlook Add-in. Copy the key with the Pronestor GUID and all values under this key. Add these registry settings to all Citrix user by default.
